The book I chose was The Origin of Species. The reason I chose this book is because it is a book that had such a big impact on society, especially in the religious societies. It took a lot of guts to just shoot down religious theories with proof and not worry about the consequences. Anyway, The Origin of Species is about the evolution of man, and how we just evolved from another species and it had nothing to do with god. The idea Darwin believed in was natural selection. The idea of natural selection means that traits that help a species survive or reproduce are passed down every generation. He has a lot of other things he believed in also. The following statements are ideas he believed in. First, populations always remain roughly the same size, give or take a few. Resources that are needed like food, are limited, but become very stable in time. People in any population differ in many ways and are obviously never the same. Lastly people that are suited to an environment are more likely to reproduce and survive, and people not suited to the environment are the opposite. These are just a couple of his ideas mentioned the origin of species.
